gPRA Free Due To Birth List

Criteria gPRA list ‘Free due to birth’

Dogs born in the Netherlands (born after 1-6-2014):

What is required to register a Schapendoes born in the Netherlands on the ‘free due to birth’ list for gPRA. Protocol Vereniging de Nederlandse Schapendoes:

-Copy of the pedigree of the Schapendoes, that is requested to be placed on this list.

Explanation:

In order to be registered on the list the Schapendoes must be the offspring of proven gPRA free parents..

This means that:

 – Both parents are free of PRA (++ or N/N ) via the direct gene test for gPRA. Only Bochum or Biofocus tests can be accepted.

 – by means of DNA parentage profiles of parent animals and offspring it is established that the parent animals are the parent animals.

Since working with DNA parentage profiles, the NHSB pedigree of the offspring states: ‘Father and mother verified by DNA’.

  1. The Dutch Kennel Club has examined and checked the proven pedigree. Double checks by the VNS/Doesdata are not required.
  2. The list of gPRA results is provided periodically by Biofocus. These results are processed in Doesdata. Parents are at least 2 years old at the time of a litter, and are tested for a first mating. The data of the parents are processed in Doesdata at the moment any offspring applies for the ‘Free due to birth’ list.

*In case the gPRA results of (one of) the parents are missing in Doesdata, these will still have to be provided.

Dogs born outside the Netherlands (and dogs born in the Netherlands before1-6-2014):

The following is required to register a Schapendoes of this category on the ‘free due to birth’ list. Protocol Vereniging de Nederlandse Schapendoes:

-DNA pedigree profile of father, mother and the Schapendoes requested to be placed on the list. *

*In case the gPRA results of (one of) the parents are missing in Doesdata, these will still have to be provided.

ATTENTION: in case one or both parents are not tested or one of both parents is a carrier (+- or N/PRA), the Schapendoes can not be placed on the list ‘Free due to birth’ but has to be tested himself.
